The director Alexander Sokurov attended the Greek premiere of film “The Sun” in the cinema Titania, which is opened after the restoration. Sokurov's films will be systematically demonstrated in this cinema. The firm New Star has put out on DVD and VHS 5 films of Sokurov: “The Sun”, “Russian Ark”, “Father and Sun”, “Mother and Sun”, “Moloch”. The number of journal “Cinephile” devoted to film The Sun is released.

Ducal Palace, a chamber for receptions of the Winter garden. Sokurov was handed the prize “il sogno di Piero” instituted by the Academy of fine arts in Urbino.

Sokurov attends the premiere of his film “The Sun” at the IFF in Turin. The beginning of hire of film The “Sun” in Italy: Milan, Genoa, Rome, Palermo.

The International Film Festival. Film “The Sun” has received the prize for the best direction. The performer of the Emperor Issey Ogata has recieved the prize for the best man's role.

Hermitage Theatre. International Award for Development and Consolidation of Humanitarian Relations in Countries of the Baltic Region the “Baltic Star” was presented to Alexander Sokurov. The Award is yearly conferred to workers of culture and art, representatives of official and business circles, political and public workers residng or working in countries of the Baltic Region.

A Concert–Fantasy “The North Gardens” by National Artist of Russia Alexander Sokurov took place in the Big hall of Philharmonic Society named for Dmitry Shostakovich.

In the program there are works of Rahmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Glinka, Solovjev–Sedoj, Molchanov, Strauss. Participants: Soloists of “St. Petersburg–Concert”, a double–duet “Ma.Gr.Ig.Al.”, the chamber chorus “Rossika” — Laureate of International Competitions, a youth chamber orchestra “Vasiljevsky Island”, the Honoured Artist of Russia Leonid Mozgovoj, the musical theatre of children “Rainbow”.




“The performers of different genres (vocalists, instrumentalists, chamber ensembles, the well–known film actor and master of artistic word Leonid Mozgovoj) are included in the original director’s composition of Alexander Sokurov. The closing of the International Festival “Gold Apricot”. The film of Alexander Sokurov “The Sun” got the Gran–prix of the Festival.

Museum of Contemporary Art. Closing ceremony. Sokurov closes the retrospective of his films on the First International Conference of Contemporary European Cinema. The following films are shown: “Mother and Son” and “Father and Son”.

Requiem”.
